After a period of consultation and restructure, at the September 2009 Board Meeting, the Directors of the Remote Area Planning and Development Board endorsed the new Strategic Plan.

Vision

A united regional organisation proactively shaping and creating a prosperous future for Outback Queensland.

Mission

To plan, facilitate and encourage sustainable growth for the future of Central West and Outback Queensland.

We will achieve this by:
  • Being future focused
  • Supporting the regions existing business base
  • Identifying and facilitating development of new and innovative industries for our region
  • Being a consultative advocate and lobbyist on regional issues
  • Proactive networking, communicating and partnering with all levels of government, private and public organisations
  • Supporting and facilitating constructive & relevant discussions and partnerships amongst member local governments and community organisations
  • Adding value to other regional organisations in a non-duplicating manner
  • Coordinating and facilitating the provision of research for the region.

Principles

Membership to RAPAD involves abiding by core principles, which will guide all operational and strategic decision making by each director of the board. Through these principles, the Board will optimise its opportunities to support and facilitate a balanced sustainable future for the Central West and wider Outback Queensland.

That each decision aims to achieve:
  • Economic, cultural and social development opportunities
  • Equitable levels of service, and its delivery for all the regions residents
  • Equitable standards of living for all the regions residents
  • Intergenerational equity 
  • Sustainable use of the regions natural resources
  • An outcome of regional benefit.
Our Operating Principles
Directors will:
  • Be an advocate for the Central West and Outback region
  • Consider the environmental, economic & social regional benefits in discussions
  • Practice open and transparent communication
  • Aim for outcomes by consensus
  • Remain informed on all RAPAD matters and make informed decisions
  • Act for regional equity
  • Act ethically, in the interests of the board, and at all times ensure knowledge of, and application of high levels of, corporate governance
  • Act as a link between the Board and their local government
  • Be apolitical when on the Board.
