CICADAS @ RAPAD bought to the attention of a national audience, the importance and role of arts and culture in regional and rural communities.
The annual SEGRA (Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia) conference was recently held in Townsville with over 250 delegates from across Australia

CICADAS@RAPAD presented at the recent SEGRA conference on connecting creative arts, social capital, tourism and economic development in regional communities as a quadruple bottom line.

A plea was made today by Mayors of seven Outback Queensland Shire Councils for discussions between the three regional independents and the alternative Coalition and Labour governments in Canberra to include the fate of these important local terrestrial TV facilities.

"Jobs in the Outback" is the new jobs page on the Outback Hospitality website - and it's not just about tourism and hospitality.

Desert Channels is a book that combines art, science and history to explore the 'impulse to conserve' in the distinctive Desert Channels country of south-western Queensland.  The book will be launched by RAPAD Director Cr Bruce Scott.

Central Western Queensland's Council of Mayors have welcomed the State Government's and the opposition's bipartisan approach to the recent Geothermal Energy Bill 2010.

CSG - Keep the debate balanced

Chair of RAPAD and Winton Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ed Warren has weighed into the coal seam gas debate and urged communities to ensure a balanced argument is maintained at all times.

Cr Warren also urges government, communities and the CSG industry to maintain an open and transparent dialogue.

RAPAD has hosted representatives of the Galilee Basin Operators Forum (GBOF) at several meetings now to hear first hand about the CSG companies activities.

Discussing Public Art - The Public ARt in NOn Urban Contexts Symposium

The Public Art in Non Urban Contexts Symposium see the first time Public Art in the bush has been examined by artists, cultural workers and policy makers, and promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience for attendees. The symposium will be in Blackall 25-27 August 2011.

RAPAD in partnership with the Longreach Regional Council will host a Digital Awareness Day at the Longreach Civic Centre from 6.30am on the 27 May.
