Outback Queensland represents 22 percent of the State of Queensland and incoporates 11 shire councils; Aramac, Barcaldine, Barcoo, Blackall, Boulia, Diamantina, Ilfracombe, Isisford, Longreach, Tambo and Winton. There are 15 towns and communities within the region which range in size, the largest being Longreach, followed by Barcaldine, Blackall and Winton. The fastest growing shires in recent times have been Aramac, Isisford and Barcoo.
The region is geographically, demographically and cultural diverse, offering a wonderful quality of life and range of opportunities for those willing to discover its charms. Communities are typically described as friendly and welcoming.
Outback Queensland, like the rest of the state, is experiencing unprecedented change and development.
